Circle Skirts

These simple skirts are inspired by the work of Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada, who thinks that skirts are the most creative and comfortable kind of women’s clothing. Whether you like wearing skirts or not, your dolls and animals will love them.

1. Find a round object like a plate or a roll of tape. Use it to trace a circle on a piece of fabric. We like fleece because it doesn’t unravel, but you can try other fabrics, too. The bigger the circle, the longer the skirt, so experiment to find a size that fits your toy.

2. Fold the circle in half and in half again, making a rounded triangle. Cut off the very top of the triangle to make the waist opening in the skirt. Make a tiny hole to start with. Because you are cutting through several layers of fabric, the hole will be bigger than you think!

3. Try the skirt on your toy, and make the hole bigger if you need to.

4. Decorate the skirt with fancy trim. (We used hot glue.)
